Like many artist, I also like to turn my work into keychains and charms. For larger and more complicated keychains, I’ll send them to a manufacturer to be made. But sometimes, with simpler phone charms I’ll actually make them at home!
To make these simpler charms, I’ll use the shape of my design as a base, either printing out a 3D resin representation of it, or modeling it in clay. Then use these to make a mold. From the mold I’ll resin cast the clear pieces and then apply or embed the stickers. It’s a bit of a slow process, but I enjoy doing it. It’s rather nice and relaxing.
Sometimes I’ll even make mockups of my larger keychains using a similar method so I can see how they’ll look before getting them produced, getting a better idea of how big they’ll be, etc.
Below are keychains that I’ve had made as well as smaller charms that I’ve made by hand.
